Imagine this: you take out your tube of mascara, pull out the wand, coat your lashes, and when you feel like there isn’t enough product left on the wand, you stick it back in the tube and pump it back and forth to pick up more. Stop right there. You just committed a huge makeup mistake.
Yes, pulling and pushing the mascara wand in the tube isn’t getting you any product—it’s actually doing the opposite. The pumping motion that you do only lets more air into the tube, making your mascara dry out faster, as well as letting more bacteria in—yikes.
So what do you do instead? Slightly twist the mascara wand when before you pull it out completely. If you pick up too much product, scrape off the excess using a tissue.
