True or false: Celebrated fashion maven and Beatle daughter Stella McCartney went to state school up until high school instead of attending some exclusive prep school with other rock royalty brats.
Fact or fiction: In Buckingham Palace (a.k.a. Princes William and Harry’s royal crib), the lights are duly switched off when not in use. If not, the lady of the house (a.k.a. HRH Queen Elizabeth) shall have your wasteful, plebeian head on a silver, jewel-encrusted platter.
Goss or not: Reese Witherspoon maintains her to-die-for, sunshiny blonde locks not with Alterna 10, only known as the most expensive luxury shampoo to date (it retails at $50), but with *gasp* Johnson & Johnson Baby Shampoo ($5.25).
The answers: True. Fact. Absolutely not.
Chalk it up to the recession or global warming or both, but we can’t deny it--this is the Age of Frugality. So, really, there’s nothing to be embarrassed about cruising in a 10-year-old car (Desperate Housewives’ Teri Hatcher does) or confessing to your friends that you’ve sworn off booze mainly because you can’t afford it (Donald Trump did).
Half of Hollywood’s frugalistas economize as a bid to “Go Green” (a movement spearheaded by Leo DiCaprio); the other half penny pinches because they’re scared of being poor again (like Leo’s pal Tobey Maguire and Halle Berry). Whatever the reason, a healthy dose of frugality will definitely benefit your bank account, your health, and even Mother Nature.

3. I keep product samples (given away in malls, mrt stations, supermarkets, etc.) and use 'em when I ran out of supply. Most toiletries samples are useful for light-packed travel :)
