JENNYLYN MERCADO: Fun, Fearless Single Mom

The transition from being a single lady to a single mom is definitely not easy. You're so used to taking care of just yourself and your career, but now you have a child to think about--and your world suddenly revolves around his happiness and well-being. Popular GMA-7 star Jennylyn Mercado knows that all too well. She is no stranger to the challenges and difficulties that life bring--including motherhood. That's probably why she remains strong and resilient (not to mention sexy and beautiful!), no matter what life throws at her. She's a true fighter and a fearless Cosmo girl, balancing a thriving career and being single mom to her 2-year-old son, Alex Jazz.
This 23-year-old actress and singer's career kicked off when she was named Ultimate Female Survivor, one of two winners, at the first season of Starstruck, the reality-based talent search show of GMA-7. (Ex-boyfriend Mark Herras was named Ultimate Male Survivor.) She has since released three albums under GMA Records and Viva Records, starred in several primetime TV shows, and bagged the lead role in movies like the recent Rosario, a Metro Manila Film Festival 2010 entry. She will soon star in the action-fantasy movie Ang Mundo ni Andong Agimat and in a new TV series, Encantandia: The Second Saga.
Jen went straight from her guesting in GMA-7's Party Pilipinas to the Summit Studio for her Cosmo shoot, for the story "They're All Single Hot Mommas!" in the March 2011 issue (along with Valerie Concepcion and Mylene Dizon). She did not look the least bit stressed; in fact, she looked stunning and glowing in her dressy beige dress paired with her Balenciaga bag (check out its simple contents here!). It was relatively a fun and stress-free shoot, with the only challenge being how to get adorable Alex Jazz to smile for the photos.
