The votes are in and so are the results, thanks to the country's first automated election.

Previous elections have proven that celebrities—and sometimes, even their relatives—are often the frontrunners in the race. There were a few surprise wins and losses here and there, but the recent polls proved to be the same as before.

Four of the Magic 12 in the senatorial race are reelected actors, with Bong Revilla, Jr. and Jinggoy Estrada in the top two spots. Joining them (and staging a Senate comeback) are Tito Sotto and Lito Lapid.

Vilma Santos won a second term as Batangas Governor with perennial on-screen partner Christopher de Leon securing a provincial board seat in the same province. Her real life husband, Ralph Recto, returns to the Senate, too. Not so lucky is Vilma's first husband, Edu Manzano, who lost his bid for the vice presidential position.

Just like the Santos-Recto tandem, Bong's and Jinggoy's families are just as lucky. Bong's wife Lani Mercado won Bacoor, Cavite's congressional seat, and his brother, Strike Revilla, won a second term as Bacoor Mayor. Jinggoy's half-brother, JV Ejercito, won the congressional seat for San Juan with JV's mother Guia Gomez pulling in the most votes to nail the San Juan mayor spot. Another Ejercito, ER, is now Laguna's governor.

Two newly-minted and very high profile congressmen are taking their seats in their provinces: Manny Pacquiao for Sarangani and Lucy Torres for Ormoc.

Quezon City, the city of stars, has a new mayor: Bagets alum Herbert Bautista, and four new celebrity councilors: Precious Hipolito, Alfred Vargas, Gian Sotto, and Roderick Paulate. Not so lucky are Aiko Melendez, who failed in her bid for the vice-mayoralty, and some celebrities who were running for councilor: Ara Mina, Glenda Garcia, Ogie Diaz, Arnell Ignacio, and Ricky Davao.

Isko Moreno secured another term as vice mayor of Manila, with Robert Ortega and Lou Veloso returning to their councilor positions in the capital city of the country.

In the list of non-winners, Joseph Estrada is still not conceding the presidential race, but Loren Legarda has already congratulated the vice presidential frontrunner.

Cesar Montano lost his bid for the gubernatorial seat of Bohol, as did Jestoni Alarcon and Dingdong Avanzado for congressional seats in the provinces of Rizal and Siquijor, respectively.

Joey Marquez lost in the mayoralty race for Paranaque, as did several stars trying their luck for vice-mayoralty seats, like Anjo Yllana for Paranaque, and Rico Puno and Jobelle Salvador for Makati.
