Traffic and lines outside the Smart Araneta Coliseum were crazy hours before the start of Maroon 5’s much-anticipated concert last September 18. We weren’t surprised, though, because tickets to the concert had sold out two months prior to the event itself. With drool-worthy frontman and newest Bench endorser Adam Levine fulfilling the dream of thousands of Filipina admirers for the third time since 2007, the euphoria that night was pretty much a given!

Once inside the Big Dome, Maroon 5 fans went sufficiently wild--a testament to Pinoys’ love for Adam, lead guitarist James Valentine, bassist Mickey Madded, dummer Matt Flynn, and keyboardist PJ Morton.

After an opening set by American rock group The Cab, Maroon 5 conquered the stage with their hit single "‘Payphone" from their current album Overexposed. They then launched into other hits from their past albums Songs About Jane (2002), It Won’t Be Soon Before Long (2007), and Hands All Over (2010).

The crowd erupted in a deafening cheer when Adam declared his love for their fans in the middle of their fourth song “Sunday Morning”. Other songs from Overexposed such as “One More Night”, “Lucky Strike”, and “Daylight” kept the concertgoers on their feet. The hunky bandleader had a few tricks up his sleeve at the concert; he busted some seriously sexy dance moves while singing “Misery”, and he picked up a guitar for the first time that night to play “If I Never See Your Face Again”.

For the encore, the band came back with Adam on drums and James singing lead to rock duo The White Stripes’s “Seven Nation Army”. They even performed a mash-up of Human League’s “Don’t You Want Me” and Justin Timberlake’s “Sexy Back”. Maroon 5 capped off the night with their smash hit “Moves Like Jagger”--a fitting end to their third sensational Manila show.
