Let this list be your extra dose of sugar for today! Here are our favorite Pinoy actors from the early 2000s:
When Gerald Anderson first entered the "Bahay ni Kuya" for the reality show Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition season one, we knew we found our dream boy. Gerald, who was 17 years old at the time, won third place, but he's still winning our hearts to this day.
In 2008, a teenaged boy named Ejay Falcon captured our attention when he entered the reality show Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition Plus. Almost 10 years later, he still makes our heads turn—to his chiseled six-pack abs.
The Gigger Boys
The dance group was composed of cuties Enchong Dee, Robi Domingo, AJ Perez, Chris Gutierrez, Aaron Villaflor, Dino Imperial, and Sam Concepcion. They were handsome, talented, and all you could ask for in a guy—multiplied by seven. Sadly, the boys lost a member and friend, AJ, to a car accident in 2011.
Hero Angeles' dimples were all anyone could talk about when he won the reality talent show, Star Circle Quest, in 2004. He was then paired with one of the season's runners-up Sandara Park (now known as K-pop star Dara), and they both had successful projects together. Hero is now focused on his art, but appears on television once in a while. He recently starred in an episode of the drama anthology, Maalaala Mo Kaya, in May 2017.
Another one of the runners-up in Star Circle Quest season one is Joross Gamboa, who charmed the viewers with his sense of humor. Joross went on to star in hit TV shows and films. In 2012, he won the Best Supporting Actor award for the New Breed section of the 8th Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival. He currently appears as a supporting cast member of the TV series, La Luna Sangre.
Albie Casiño played the role of nice guy Christian Torralba in the 2010 remake of the drama series, Mara Clara, where he was first paired with Kathryn Bernardo. Young women everywhere fell in love with his smile. These days, his smile still enchants—add to that his well-toned abs and arms, and you've got a man that's hard to resist.
Mark Herras was the Ultimate Male Survivor of the reality-based talent show, Starstruck season one, which ran from 2003 to 2004. And you know what they say: The first one will always have a place in your heart. He then had successful projects with the first Ultimate Female Survivor Jennylyn Mercado. Mark recently appeared in the comedy-drama series, D'Originals.
Remember the guy who had the Jerry Yan hair? (Yes, Jerry Yan, who played Dao Ming Si, in the hit Taiwanese series Meteor Garden.) Rainier Castillo came second to Mark Herras in Starstruck season one. The actor is now focused on his gym and other business ventures. He still appears on television once in a while.
Mike Tan followed Mark as the second Ultimate Male Survivor (2004 to 2005). Mike now stars in the popular drama series, Ika-6 na Utos.
Marky Cielo won the 2005 to 2006 season of Starstruck. Mark was cast in one movie, Till I Met You, before his untimely death in 2008.
Aljur won the votes of the Starstruck viewers through his mysterious, moreno charm and singing talent. Aljur took on lead roles in a series of projects for GMA, before he officially announced his move to ABS-CBN in July 2017. He was recently seen in the hit series, FPJ's Ang Probinsyano.
Steven Silva was the last Ultimate Male Survivor (2009 to 2010) before Starstruck went on a five-year hiatus. The reality-based talent show went back on air in 2016. Steven is also a singer and a football enthusiast.
