Ateneo fans are now in a celebratory mood twice over, as both the junior and senior Men's Basketball teams of the Katipunan-based university won the championships of their respective divisions in the UAAP today, October 8, at the Araneta Coliseum.

It was sweet victory for both the Blue Eagles and Blue Eaglets, as they both had to fight extra hard to win the title after their Game Two setbacks to University of the East and De La Salle Zobel respectively, which forced today's sudden-death matches. The Ateneo Blue Eagles defended their crown with a 71-58 win over the UE Red Warriors--erasing the painful memory of last Sunday's 88-68 loss.

Meanwhile, in Game Two of the UAAP Men's Basketball Finals held last Sunday, October 4, 2009 at the Big Dome, not even the threat of typhoon Pepeng was strong enough to break school spirit. The University of the East Red Warriors showed their thirst for the championship as they defeated the Ateneo de Manila Blue Eagles with an impressive score of 88-68.

During the first half of the game, the Blue Eagles tried their best to match the Red Warriors point after point, led by Season 71 MVP Rabeh Al-Hussaini, Nonoy Baclao, and Jai Reyes. However, the Red Warriors were dead-set on having a winner-take-all match on Thursday, October 8, and Elmer Espiritu and Parri Llagas set the path for the team toward victory.

The heat was ON inside the Big Dome, not just because of the intense game, but also because of the hot guys in attendance! Alumni, students, and empathizers flocked to support their favorite teams, and Cosmo was there to spot some of the great-looking ones. As we caught up with them in the middle of a gray afternoon, we asked them where they were and what they were doing the day typhoon Ondoy hit. Check out our gallery to see how these cuties dealt with the heavy rains!
