Most of you (me, included) probably have little to no vivid memories of the early '90s, so it might come as a shocker for you to know that Aga Muhlach had another beauty queen in his life before his wife Charlene Gonzales—Miss Universe 1993 Dayanara Torres of Puerto Rico.
Dayanara, who's currently in the country after serving as judge during Monday's 65th Miss Universe competition, sat down with Karen Davila and spoke about her five-year relationship with the matinee idol.
"We haven't seen each other or talked for a long time. And, you know, our paths moved in different ways. But we'll always have great, great memories.
It wasn't a terrible breakup. But I do remember, you know, being hurt and wanting to go, wanting to pack my stuff. But, you know, it was the way it was supposed to be."
Having made her mark in the local showbiz scene after attending the Miss Universe 1994 pageant in Manila, Dayanara took part in a slew of movies, one of which was where she met Aga. The two, who were both in their 20s then, starred in the 1995 romance Basta’t Kasama Kita and became a real-life couple soon after.
In 1998, Dayanara and Aga broke up which prompted her return to Puerto Rico. She then married Latin American singer Marc Anthony in 2000 but they divorced in 2004. They share two sons together: Cristian, 15, and Ryan, 13.
