Jeffery Lytle, 42, a resident of Monroe City in Snohomish County, Washington, is now facing charges after authorities were informed of his plot to have his Filipino wife Rhoda Mee Funtanilla killed by a hitman. The couple, who have been married for more than six years, have a four-year-old daughter.

Apparently, Jeffery's text messages to the hitman, whom he referred to as "Shayne," were sent by mistake to his former boss, Robert Alexander.

You can imagine just how horrified Jeffery's boss must have been when he got a text that read: "Hey, Shayne, how's it going? You remember you said that you would help me kill my wife? I'm going to take you on that offer." Thus, Lytle's ex-boss immediately called the police and showed them the incriminating text messages.

A follow-up text message likewise instructed, "If you can make it look like a robbery gone wrong or make it a accident she works at Walmart she gets off at 11:00. I'll split everything with the insurance 50/50."

"Jeffery also mentioned that his wife's life insurance is worth $1 million and that if Shayne wanted a bonus he could also kill their daughter whose life insurance is worth $500,000," reports Don Tagala on ABS-CBN News Online.

ABS-CBN News managed to obtain a probable cause synopsis document from the Snohomish County Prosecuting Office. The document revealed, "Jeffery initially denied sending any text message to anyone. However, when confronted, he admitted he had authored the text in question but never sent it to anyone and that it was just him 'venting' his anger at his wife."

The document further added, "Jeffery denied any life insurance was in effect and claimed he had no intention of ever harming his wife and young daughter. Lytle stated that he had written that message but left it in 'Drafts' folder and said that it may have been accidentally sent out by his daughter."

The New York Daily News reports that Lytle has been "charged with criminal solicitation, and is being held at Snohomish County Jail on a $1,000,000 bond."
