It's been 16 years since Meteor Garden, which starred Barbie Shu, Jerry Yan, Vic Zhou, Ken Chu, and Vanness Wu, premiered on Taiwanese television. Just recently, the show's creator, Angie Chai, says a reboot is in the works.

"The 2001 show was drawn from the Japanese comic series Boys Over Flowers," reports the Straits Times.

The article further states: "The 48-episode reboot will be a fuller—and flashier—adaptation of the books. It will be made for NT$720 million (around P1,172,399,134) or NT$15 million (around P24,424,981) per episode, with Chinese companies including Mango Entertainment. That is 30 times the budget for the 2001 drama, which was made for NT$500,000 (around P814,166) per episode."

There's no word yet on who will star in the Meteor Garden reboot. As for its release date, Barbie Shu's Instagram post says "2018."
