58% Of Pinays Would Delay Marriage To Focus On Their Career

"Global marketing communications brand J. Walter Thompson (JWT) recently released the results of its Filipina Next study, which covered Pinays between the ages of 18 and 70 across socioeconomic classes," reports ABS-CBN News.

The report explained that Filipina Next is "an offshoot of JWT's Female Tribes study, which involved 4,300 participants from the United States, China, United Kingdom, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Russia, India, Australia, and South Africa." The study covered a variety of topics, including career, money, sex, and religion.

One of the most significant findings was that 58% of Filipinas said they would delay getting married or having kids to pursue their chosen career.

JWT Philippines also shared additional key statistics:

  • 96% consider femininity as strength
  • 94% agree that it is important for women to step up as mentors for young women
  • 85% believe that there has never been a better time to be a woman
  • 85% believe technology empowers them
  • 68% consider "me time" as very important
  • 47% see success as achieving a higher level of religious or spiritual awareness
  • 27% experience sexism at work on a regular basis, the lowest rating in the Asia Pacific region, wherein the average is 42%)
