2 Chris Tiu is reportedly retiring from the Philippine Basketball Association. The athlete reportedly played his last game for the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters on July 8. The former Ateneo Blue Eagles superstar released a statement via GMA Network, saying:

"If you're asking about my PBA status, first of all, you have to ask ROS mgt if they are still interested to renew my contract. I cannot just assume that they will keep me. We have not spoken yet.
"I initially intended to play in the PBA for just one contract period but now I'm reconsidering because I never thought I would enjoy playing basketball this much in this level. 1) My teammates are just fun to be with & they are amazing players 2) owners & management are very easy to deal with and they are like family. No nonsense politics. 3) I like Coach Yeng's style of running a team and his basketball philosophy. I've been learning a lot and it's only recently that I've really been able to adjust & get my confidence & rhythm going somewhat. 4) The ROS fans are amazing.
"As much as playing pro ball is enjoyable, it is also taxing physically, mentally and emotionally which may compromise my quality of work with my other commitments.
"At the end of the day, I am truly grateful to the Lord, the team, the fans and the support of my family. I trust in God's plan & I pray that I will do what He wants of me."

3 Ariana Grande finally released a statement after she said that she "hated America" while licking several donuts in a California shop.

“I am EXTREMELY proud to be an American and I’ve always made it clear that I love my country. What I said in a private moment with my friend, who was buying the donuts, was taken out of context and I am sorry for not using more discretion with my choice of words. As an advocate for healthy eating, food is very important to me and I sometimes get upset by how freely we as Americans eat and consume things without giving any thought to the consequences that it has on our health and society as a whole. The fact that the United States has the highest child obesity rate in the world frustrates me. We need to do more to educate ourselves and our children about the dangers of overeating and the poison that we put into our bodies. We need to demand more from our food industry. However I should have known better in how I expressed myself; and with my new responsibility to others as a public figure I will strive to be better. As for why I cannot be at the MLB show, I have had emergency oral surgery and due to recovery I cannot attend the show. I hope to make it up to all those fans soon. That being said let me once again apologize if I have offended anyone with my poor choice of words.
