Uber is considered one of the safest alternatives especially for women when it comes to fast and convenient transportation services around Metro Manila.
However, a 22-year-old woman recently came forward and said an Uber driver allegedly molested her after she booked his vehicle last Wednesday, the Inquirer reported.
According to the victim, she was picked up by the suspect who was driving a red Toyota Vios with license plate number ARA-3101 at Camp Aguinaldo.
Things were normal for the most part until they reached Katipunan Avenue around 2:30 p.m.
This was when the suspect allegedly placed his arms around the victim and tried to make her perform oral sex by forcibly pulling on her hair.
Fortunately, the victim was able to escape the encounter.
Meanwhile, Philstar identified the suspect as Xstian Karlou John Marie who still remains at large.
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) board member Ariel Inton for his part said they were already investigating the case.
Inton also said the LTFRB is coordinating with law enforcement agencies to track down the suspect.
Last week, Uber released a statement saying that the suspect has been removed from their transportation network.
