Young At Heart Posted on January 24, 2012 07:00AM | 0 Comments »
I've always loved kitschy attractions. Carnivals, theme parks, arcades, museums...things that most people my age find cheesy or childish appeal to me almost as much as they did when I was a kid. People have often commented that I'm easily amused, and whether or not they mean that as a compliment, I'm grateful that I can find joy in the little things. I always make it a point to get souvenirs wherever I go because photos, trinkets, and toys that hold memories from happy times mean much more to me than expensive gifts and purchases ever could.

I'm all smiles as I prepare to enter Ocean Park Hong Kong.

New Year On High Posted on January 23, 2012 10:00AM | 1 Comment »

I wanted to do something new before 2011 ended. So, my friends, my girlfriend, and I decided to go to Baguio and welcome 2012 there. While it’s not something new to most people, it is for me.
I was really excited since this is the first time I'll see this cool tourist destination. I couldn’t wait to experience the cool weather up there. We were there when it was reported in the news that the temperature reached 6 degrees--the coldest night of the year there! -
Laughter Is The Best Aphrodisiac Posted on January 20, 2012 12:00PM | 0 Comments »
Humor is always a surprising characteristic in a man. For some reason, the only men you really expect to be funny are those who already look funny: those with enhanced caricature features, those with big bodies and even bigger laughs, those who purposely contort their faces to elicit reaction.
Stereotypes are to blame for our ignorance. We don't expect good-looking men to be funny; they're probably too vain. Men who wear glasses are probably too serious; men who dress well are too stuck-up; athletic types, too dense. So when a man, regardless of how he looks, can make us laugh, we go crazy and our eyes and hearts open up just a little bit more.
While we were shooting Ramon Bautista for our '60s-inspired January fashion editorial "Mod About You" at Mr. Jones, a PR practitioner came up to me gushing. She has a huge crush on the TV personality/host/film school professor. I offered to introduce them. She beamed at me. A day later, I received a text message riddled with thank-yous and a dizzying amount of exclamation points. -
Grown-Up Girl Posted on January 12, 2012 02:00PM | 0 Comments »

Happy indeed feels 30, flirty, and thriving this 2012!Time flies so fast, doesn't it? It's hard to believe we are starting another year and 2011 is history. But I always make it a point to look back and think of all the blessings and decisions I received and made in the past year, for me to face the new year with positivity, confidence, and hope. I found love at the start of 2011 and to me, this is the most precious gift I received; the happiness I feel in my current relationship is beyond what I expected it to be.
Chinese horoscope experts say that the Year of the Dragon will be a year of change and transformation. But to me, every new year is a chance for us to change and transform. Isn't that what happens anyway when we get older? And for some reason, something is always thrown at me at the start of the new year, whether good or bad. -
Learn How To Take Better Care Of Your Skin Posted on January 9, 2012 03:00PM | 3 Comments »
I've been adhering to a 10-step beauty regimen for more than a decade now--and I'm glad I still have the patience to set aside at least 10 minutes in the morning and night to properly cleanse, exfoliate, tone, moisturize, and protect my skin every single day.
The regimen begins with two cleansers: an oil type of cleanser to properly remove waterproof makeup, then a foaming cleanser to remove any remaining traces of dirt, grime, and makeup.
After this, I use an exfoliant to help slough off dead skin cells (skin looks a lot brighter when you do this), then I use a moisturizing mask to target fine lines that appear when skin isn't properly hydrated.
Once skin has been properly cleansed and hydrated, it helps to use a toner or face lotion to prep skin for the application of an anti-aging serum, a serum which contains potent ingredients that are delivered to the skin swiftly and efficiently.
Use a moisturizer afterwards to "seal the deal." I use two types: an oil-free moisturizer for my T-zone, then a heavier cream for the rest of the face. I then use an eye cream to help keep dark circles, fine lines, and puffiness at bay, then finish off with a generous amount of SPF (I use 50!) all over my face. The last step entails the use of a nourishing lip balm.
Our January 2012 beauty story "Six Skin Rules You Shouldn't Break" (pp. 132-137) teaches you how to properly care for your skin, and places emphasis on the need to start early. Like the beauty experts say, when it comes to anti-aging, prevention is key. So load up on all the goodies, and make the time to treat your skin right. You won't regret it.
