I like that when we complete each issue of Cosmo, even we get to glean snippets of wisdom from each page. That's how we like to work: We create pages that are relevant, make copy that is as useful as it is entertaining, and surprise readers with relatable visuals that mesmerize, amuse, and captivate. And noting that we ourselves are Cosmo readers, our critical standards ensure that we make pages that speak to the heart and talk about real experiences—regardless of section, regardless of topic, regardless of length. For me, the April issue's "What No One Tells You About Your 30s" (p.154) really hit a nerve, big time.

30 Is Thundercats?!

I remember thinking 23 was waaay old when I was 12. When I finally turned 23, though, I didn't feel old at all. At that age, I was a year into my job at Cosmo and excitedly making my way up the publishing ladder. I was assistant lifestyle editor then, and I was happily learning the ropes, working on our favorite magazine's feature and travel articles. In the very few moments then when I complained and said "Ang tanda ko na," well-meaning aunts said I was still so young with so much to learn. And boy, did I learn a lot over the years.

The years have given me valuable lessons on maturity, fabulous experiences that have made me wiser, pains that have made me way stronger, and joys that have made me richer. Eight years later, at 31, honest titas now nod in agreement when I rant about my age. However, while they prod me about settling down or joke around about my ticking biological clock (and slower metabolism!), they also stand proud of all that I've learned and who I've become. Thinking about it, even I'm quite proud of myself, too.

30+... And Loving It

As I edited the April issue's piece on being 30something, I couldn't help but notice similarities to my own life and my own experiences. I raved about the piece to my 30something friends, and they eagerly contributed their own realizations about life when they hit the big 3-0. My sentiments are quite similar to theirs. (Click through the gallery for some words of 30something wisdom!)

I like that I'm steadier now. I've realized, like most of my beloved friends in the gallery attached, that while life becomes a bit tougher as you grow older, you also have a wealth of experiences from which you gather the know-how and strength to brave life's troughs and maneuver through its twists and turns. The best part? At 30, you're surrounded by an already-edited group of people who always have your back, no matter what.

I think you should all pick up Cosmo's April ish and read it to learn how to love your age if you're 30+... or to give you something to look forward to if you're not quite there yet. My food for thought? Love your age, no matter what age you are—it's the only way to make the most of it.

In my case, if 30 is the new 20, then I'm so in my prime!
