Rush, Rush

Do you ever feel like there just isn't enough time in the day for you to get everything done? Whether it's your work, the few chapters of whatever book you're trying to read, or even a little television break—the older we get, the more precious a commodity time seems to become.
Whenever I start thinking that I'm too busy, I make myself remember friends who are even busier than I am.
Divine Lee, for instance. I am constantly in awe of how much she manages to get done in a single day: from answering tons of fan questions on Tumblr and updating her blog with anecdotes from her day-to-day life, to posting outfit photos on her Lookbook, managing her many businesses (if you didn't already know, she works in real estate and retail, and she owns a club), posting on Twitter, and attending various events and parties.
All of this she does with her signature flair and energy, plus her super endearing kabaklaan. (Ate Div—I get to call her that because she was my next-door neighbor and big sister figure when I was growing up—tells Cosmo all about how she makes it through the day in July's On My Mind section. Maybe we can all pick up a few tips!)
And then there's the arguably busier Tim Yap, who is a whirlwind of energy. I don't think the guy sleeps at all. Meetings in the morning, meetings at lunch, an event to attend mid-afternoon, a shoot to attend in the late afternoon, a hosting gig after that, and then dinner and drinks with friends—and did I mention an international flight in the morning? (Yes, this is an account of an actual day in his life!) His mind is just as busy as he is; he's forever cooking up new ideas for his many projects or thinking of ways to improve the projects and businesses he's already working on.
I once asked Tim how he does it. He told me that he's just the kind of guy who likes to throw himself completely into something. He'll never do anything halfway. If he's working, he's working 100 percent. If he's relaxing, he's giving that 100 percent, too. That's the kind of mentality I'd really like to live by: to do everything to the best of your ability, every single time--no matter what you're doing, even if it's just having fun. Anything less is cheating yourself.
It's definitely not all sosyalan and parties for the likes of Tim and Divine. They work so hard, sometimes I wonder if they even have time to breathe. I think about their schedules, and then I thank God for mine! (Haha!) Of course, good time management factors into getting more out of your day. You can't expect to get anything done if you don't know how to budget your time! (Even if you give everything 110 percent!)
A great way to maximize your time is by minimizing your prep time in the morning. You don't have to take an hour to get ready for your day. That's time you could spend getting more work done, being productive, or heck, watching another episode of Game of Thrones (my current obsession). There are so many get-gorgeous tricks that'll have you looking fabulous and totally presentable in under five minutes. If this is one of your issues (it used to be one of mine!), check out our July 2011 Beauty Book, "How To Look Hot—In A Hurry." Stay beautiful, ladies!
