BIGBANG will be one member short as T.O.P. is scheduled to enter the army today. As the oldest member of the K-Pop boyband, T.O.P. will be enlisting in the military for a 21-month mandatory service in a secluded area in rural South Korea.
The 29-year-old Korean rapper confirmed the news yesterday as he posted a series of pictures on Insta debuting his significantly shorter locks:
Here he is smoking what is probably his last cigarette before entering the service, with the caption: "Good bye Seoul":
T.O.P. got one last farewell from his band member G-Dragon who posted this emotional pic of the two of them:
Korean men are expected to join the army any time from their 20th birthday until they turn 38. Korean celebs, however, have a trend to enlist before they turn 30—just like T.O.P. who will be celebrating his 30th birthday in November.
T.O.P.'s departure hits the band hard as each of the four remaining members will be turning 30 years old in the next three years: Taeyang and G-Dragon in 2018, Daesung in 2019, and Seungri in 2020.
