Sit down. I have some inconceivable news regarding our most favorite, most awful TV couple of all time: Chuck Bass and Blair Waldorf.

In an interview with Vulture, Gossip Girl co-creator/writer Josh Schwartz said Chuck and Blair were never supposed to bump uglies. I told you it was upsetting.

“None of that was expected,” he told the website. “Chuck came into the show as the villain. But it’s one of those great, fun things about making a television series—it’s an evolving, living, breathing thing, and things can easily change on a whim.”

Once the palpable chemistry between acting geniuses Leighton Meester (Blair) and Ed Westwick (Chuck) was seen, the writers created the romance. And then they took it one step further, they decided, after a series of inhumane tests, that Chuck and Blair would be together forever. Awww!

“That love story between those two characters was always one of the overarching stories of the whole show, and we knew that. As far as we pushed them, we always had to be able to find a way to bring them back together.”

And thank goodness! What is this world without Chuck and Blair? Well, I think 2016 is the answer. It ain’t pretty!!!
