On May 11, 2017, Fil-Am teen Raymond "Ray" Cabalfin Jr. went hiking with some friends along the Lake Clementine Trail in Auburn in Northern California. At some point, Ray and one of his friends decided to cool off by jumping into the river. But while his friend managed to swim back to shore, Ray was swept away by the strong current.

"The video released by Ray's family shows him calling for help after he jumped into the river. His friends had tried to help him and had called 911 as soon as they saw Ray was in trouble. However, they could not get to him," reports Henni Espinosa on ABS-CBN News.

That was the last time anyone saw Ray.

"After search and rescue efforts failed to find Ray, officials of California State Park Rangers have ruled his disappearance as a drowning. However, Ray's mother says she hopes he is still alive, while the family continues to comb the area's trails to search for him," reports Balitang America.

Ray's family has set up a GoFundMe page for their own search and rescue efforts.
