Jake Ejercito has settled the issue about the paternity of actress Andi Eigenmann's five-year-old daughter Ellie.
On Sunday night, October 23, at the sidelines of the Star Awards for Music and Television—where he was named the Best New Male TV Personality—Jake once again had to address the matter.
When a reporter asked him if Ellie was, indeed, his biological daughter, Jake replied, "Yeah. Never ko namang idinenay eh (I never denied it)."
A PEP.ph report explained that Jake and Ellie took a DNA test a year ago. "I was really surprised. But I'm happy and I have no regrets," he said, recalling his reaction to the result of the DNA test.
Jake explained that he remained silent over the past months because he was only "trying protect Ellie." He reasoned, "All I wanted was to protect Ellie. Kasi ayoko talagang pag-usapan s'ya (I don’t want people to talk about her)."
Initially, the public assumed that actor Albie Casiño was the father of Ellie.
However, Andi's half-sister Max Eigenmann let it slip during a radio interview that Jake—and not Albie— is Ellie's father, as proven by a DNA test.
While the revelation was made under controversial circumstances, Jake is not really unhinged by it. He stated, "Actually, it's very relieving na ngayon napag-uusapan ko na s'ya (that I can talk about it) very openly. I mean, hindi naman deserve ni Ellie na, you know, na itago (Ellie doesn't deserve to be, you know, kept a secret)."
