She bags the lead role for her first TV project--a primetime series at that--and now she's endorsing a major local retail brand as her first fashion campaign. You've got to hand it to Jasmine Curtis-Smith, who, while relatively still a newcomer to showbiz and fashion, is already making a name for herself in both industries. Her first apparel endorsement for Bayo, which is also endorsed by KC Concepcion, has generated much buzz for the 17-year-old actress. With her pretty face, refreshing style, and youthful vibe, she's a perfect muse for a new generation of budding fashionistas.
Jasmine is the face of the latest collection called Love, Bayo, which caters to young Filipinas like her. She was introduced recently at a fashion show in Amber UltraLounge in The Fort Strip, where the new collection was launched. Models sashayed down the makeshift runway on the club floor, wearing the predominantly feminine pieces in flirty and colorful prints.
After the show, we were able to chat with Jasmine about all things fashion. In a previous interview, she shared with us her basic style and beauty essentials. Now she shares some fashion tips and reveals her style icons and why she loves shopping with older sister and style mentor Anne Curtis (who was a surprise guest that night, as she came to support her!). Read excerpts from our latest interview with Jasmine below.
What's your style philosophy?
Just keep it real [and] be true to yourself.
Who do you love to shop with?
It has to be my sister [Anne] because not only does she have her own sense of style and know my sense of style, but at the same time, nanlilibre rin siya, so minsan free na 'yung clothes ko! (Laughs.)
What are your tips for staying fashionable even in unpredictable weather?
Since the Philippines is a bit hot and humid [even when it rains], it doesn't hurt to wear light, knitted, pullovers or cardigans--but don't naman overdo it kasi we're not naman in Alaska or Antarctica!
What should be a girl's go-to date outfit?
If you're my age, it's nice to just have a cute dress on. Nothing too mature, nothing [showing] too much skin. But, also keep it cute and fun with heels and light makeup lang.
Aside from Anne, who are your style icons?
Of course, the Uy sisters [Laureen and Liz Uy]! Their fashion is unfailing and no one can ever doubt what they wear. I admire their sense of style and definitely who they are.
