It's not exactly a big studio movie, but Planetarium stars big names: Natalie Portman and Lily-Rose Depp. They play sisters who can speak to ghosts. The film, which is directed by Rebecca Zlotowski, is a drama set in 1930s Paris.
This early, though, critics are already saying that the film is Oscar-worthy. In fact the recent release of the trailer got them all excited. Like many other media outlets, the Daily Mail highlighted a particularly striking scene from the movie, which shows Portman and Depp smoking while soaking in a bathtub.
For those who don't know yet, Depp is the daughter of Hollywood A-lister Johnny Depp and French model-actress Vanessa Paradis.
According to IndieWire, "Planetarium will have its world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival (which runs from August 31 to September 10) and will also screen at the Toronto International Film Festival (which runs from September 8 to 18)."
The film is scheduled to be released in France on November 16. However, there is no definite word yet about its screening date in the U.S.
"[The movie] has yet to pick up an American distributor—hence the French subtitles when English is spoken. Regardless, the trailer is well worth your time," reports Hayden Manders in Nylon.
