Scarlett Johansson: Porn Can Be Liberating

Scarlett Johansson admires the more "artistic" X-rated films which don't degrade women.

Scarlett Johansson thinks porn can be liberating.

The actress—who plays the girlfriend of X-rated movie addict Joseph Gordon-Levitt in her new movie Don Jon—has confessed to being a fan of the more "artistic" adult films which don't degrade women.

She told Refinery 29: "Pornography can be degrading or can be sexually liberating, if you know how to use it and it is made from an artistic point of view.

"But Don Jon is not a film about pornography, it is a social criticism against consumerism."

The 28-year-old bombshell retains her modesty in the comedy as seductive girlfriend Barbara, a character she could identify with.

Scarlett said: "I loved the sweetness of Barbara. Actor and director Joseph Gordon-Levitt helped shape the character."

The screen star—who recently got engaged to French journalist Romain Dauriac—does however bare all in her upcoming movie, Under the Skin, because she felt it had artistic merit.

Scarlett said: "I'm not fond of nudism. Like everyone, I am aware of my body and in this film I put aside prejudices to get into the skin of an alien. I had the collaboration of an artist, as director Jonathan Glazer protected me at all times. The nudity in this film is not exploitative."
