Starstruck alumnus Mark Herras simply smiled when asked about his chick-boy reputation. But try as he might to shun that playboy image of his, the shadows of past flames (both rumored or real)—Jennylyn Mercado, Lian Paz, and Katrina Halili, among others—loom large every press engagement like a bad debt hounding the 22-year-old actor-performer.

Nowadays, however, Mark is simply too busy attending to his first real love: dancing.

Just recently, the Bad Boy of the Dance Floor released his third dance album under Universal Records titled The Greatest Moves. The 13-track album boasts of numbers handpicked by Mark himself. His previous records, Dance Hits and Dance Party, reportedly achieved platinum status.

But other than dance tracks like “Culos,” “I Know You Want Me,” and “Bubblegum,” Mark’s latest effort hopes to strip him of the teenybopper persona and showcase his newly-minted mature image.

“Sa wakas naisipan ko na ding i-develop ‘yung pangangatawan ko,” Mark proudly said.

A new and improved—not to mention toned—Mark Herras? Ladies, take a number!

Read on for five facts we learned about the star.

1. He used to have an eye condition, and it still bothers him to this day.

“Maraming nagsasabi maganda raw mata ko pero kasi nung bata ako nagkaroon ako ng kuliti tapos pabalik-balik sa left eye ko. The doctor recommended na kailangan daw operahin so pina-opera ko para matanggal. Siguro sa kaka-press, medyo hindi na siya nagpapantay. Nung bago ako and sa Starstruck obvious na obvious siya. Eventually I learned to control it pero once na tumama ‘yung pagka-antok, which is madalas dahil sa nature ng trabaho ko, bumabalik siya.”

2. He had a history as a rapper…

“Nung high school I was a member of a rap group. Sumali kami sa isang contest way, way back, in Laguna, tapos nanalo kami. Kami gumagawa ng sarili naming lyrics.”

3. …which he wouldn’t mind reliving!

“Siguro someday kung wala na akong magawang iba (laughs), try ko ulit mag-rap.”

4. He thinks being a good dancer makes him a good catch.

“Based on my experience, alam mo kung paano dumiskarte ‘yung simple lang. Kumbaga kung may sampung lalaki, ‘yung siyam na ‘yun todo abang tapos ako tahimik lang. If I would incorporate my dancing skills sa panliligaw, I can say na I know when to strike (laughs). Timing lang lahat ‘yan.”

5. And he’d go for a girl who, like him, can bust a mean dance move.

“Madaling ka-bonding 'yun kasi pareho kayong into dancing. Marami kayong puwedeng pag-usapan which is good kasi same ang interests n'yo so hindi na mahirap gumawa ng rapport.”
