Christian Bautista: On Being With "Beautiful Girls"

The hunky, senti crooner spills to Cosmo how it feels to be surrounded by the Philippines’ finest for his latest music video shoot.

“Asia’s Romantic Balladeer,” Christian Bautista, is probably the envy of all men as he was able to gather today’s loveliest Pinays for his music video. After all, it is but fitting for the song “Beautiful Girl,” a Jose Mari Chan original that the hunky crooner did a cover of in his latest album Romance Revisited: The Love Songs Of Jose Mari Chan.

Christian’s video of “Beautiful Girls” is a modernized version of the original music vid. This new version features the singer together with four of the prettiest young ladies today--Angel Locsin, Anne Curtis, Solenn Heusaff, and Georgina Wilson.

During a chat with music video director, Treb Monteras, he said that for the contemporary version of the Jose Mari Chan video, they narrowed down the number of “beautiful girls” from nine to four. Monteras remarked that creating “Beautiful Girls” was fun, and it is always easy working with Christian.

In Cosmo’s one-on-one with the boy-next-door-looking balladeer, he told us about his V-Day plans, his New Year’s resolution, and of course, what he thinks of his four “beautiful girls.”

Q: Tell us more about your music video for “Beautiful Girl.”

“We’re trying to modernize ‘yung video ni Jose Mari Chan. Before, Jose Mari Chan was with the most beautiful girls of his time. And now, I’m with the most beautiful girls of my time, my generation—Anne Curtis, Angel Locsin, Georgina Wilson, Solenn Heusaff. So talagang masayang-masaya akong makasama ko sila.”

Q: How do you feel about working with Angel and Anne again?

“You know what? [Sila] ‘yung mga first leading ladies ko noon: [in] Mano Po 5, Angel Locsin; [in] Kampanerang Kuba, Anne Curtis. Ngayon ko lang na-realize: I’ve never been with anyone else, except my ex, si Rachel Ann Go. May connection [kami], kaya okay lang ako na maging stuck sa kanila, walang problema.”

Q: What are your plans for 2010?

“[In 2010,] I’ll still be promoting ‘yung album, ‘yung Romance Revisited... tapos I wanna get into acting again kasi medyo nami-miss ko na ‘yun.”

Q: Do you have any resolutions for the New Year?

“My New Year’s resolution is ayoko nang maghintay ng New Year para baguhin ang sarili ko. It has to be everyday, keep on improving, lagi kong aayusin ang kailangang ayusin. Parang gawing daily resolution ang New Year’s resolution.”

Q: Do you have any plans for Valentine’s Day?

“I might have a show sa Indonesia [on Valentine’s Day]. So, hopefully matuloy.”
