Coron is teeming with foreigners. Wherever you go, you're sure to walk into Caucasian couples, groups of foreign backpackers, and the very common "jackpot si ate" couples. If you're talking tourism, it's a pretty good thing. But if you're a Filipino exploring your own country, can they please lower their food and souvenir prices because seriously, we don't earn dollars here, mate!

Anyway, we had dinner at this garden-style restaurant with soaring high prices. The portions were small, but the place was great and they have a wide range of cocktails, including the Coron Sling (damn that Mindoro Sling in Puerto Galera...oh the memories, oh Charlie).

I was about to text Charlie about the Coron Sling thing, but I remembered that we weren't on speaking terms. Over dinner, we talked about Arya and Mel's wedding plans before heading back to KokosNuss, where we ran into an American couple inside the common bathroom.

We all had just finished taking a shower to wash off the remnants of the salty hot springs and its take home algae. We were brushing our teeth while talking about our plans for the island-hopping trip the next day, when a Caucasian couple approached us and asked if they could tag along since it's cheaper to travel in bigger groups. They told us they were from California, and since Arya and I have relatives there, we all engaged in small talk before happily retreating to our separate rooms.

So yes, we let them join our boat for the next day's island-hopping. Sometimes, it's amazing how very little we trade for trust. We don't know them from Adam, but the mere fact that they're from somewhere where we have family, "yes, you can jump on the boat with us!" I wonder if it's just as easy to trust our race when we're in a foreign land. That's just me. As you can see, it takes so much for me to trust, and that's a trait I earned with battle scars as reminders.
