Feeling Stupid

“Aww...I think his reaction was expected.”

I was expecting Charlie to let out a string of her favorite expletives, but instead, I got to talk to a very mellow and very uncharacteristically feminine Charlie.

“Expected? What do you mean expected?” I started. “You mean to say you’re expecting him to blow me off?”

“Gaga! That’s not what I meant,” she explained over the phone. “Expected. I expected that kind of reservation and, well, hesitation from guys who can’t make decisions right away when confronted with this kind of revelation. I mean, it’s not every day a girl would write a sort of, umm, tribute blog for a guy, right?"

“I expected two things,” Charlie continued. “One, he’ll admit his feelings parallel to yours. Second, he’ll hesitate and bide his time for some things we may never know. One thing about guys is that they can’t say no to girls they like but haven’t quite figured how much they like the latter. Gets?”

“I feel stupid, Charlie.”

“Ayos lang 'yan, Ronnie,” my good friend urged. “Naturally, you’ll feel stupid and pathetic, but it won’t last long....”

Okay na sana e.

“I say bang your head on the nearest wall, and call yourself stupid out loud,” she continued. “I’ll help, promise! Then move on. That’s what you wanted in the first place, right? Tell him, and whatever his reply, you’ll move on with poise.”

“Don’t make it look like you feel stupid,” Charlie warned. “Guys like that. When he sees you doing fine and dandy after leaving you high and dry, magtataka 'yun. And then he’ll come after you. Trust me. Matagal nga lang."

“How come you know so much about these things?” I asked.

“Well, I’m in the same shitty situation for two months straight now,” Charlie revealed. “Anyhoo, the ball is in his court now. You have to wait.”

  27. I totally agree with Charlie. Never ever make it look like you feel stupid and never let Matt know that you're beginning to be stupid because of him. Ipakita mong you're strong even if you really aren't, Hahabol din sya once he realizes na siya pala yung stupid at hindi ikaw.

Good thing you ahve a friend like Charlie who's your core shaker right now.
