First Time In Matt's Pad

“So you didn’t go to work today?” I asked.
After Barcino, he invited me to his place in Paranaque—a studio-type condo unit on the 12th floor with a wide view of the airport. After slaving away in the office for months and working seven days a week, he finally snagged his own place in the better part of the city.
“I was feeling restless this morning,” he said opening a bottle of red wine and filling two glasses. “I planned to go to Tagaytay kanina, but the rain got in the way.”
“Well, it’s good that you didn’t go,” I replied, taking the wine glass and settling near the window. “The road’s all slippery because of the rain. Mahirap na.”
He placed the bottle of wine on the coffee table and sat on the couch. He sipped his wine and said, “That’s okay. I’m not afraid of dying, remember?”
Oh I remember, all right. We’ve been through this before, when he would morph into this highly emotional and slightly suicidal person I couldn’t really tolerate at times. I’ve told him, once or twice, that I don’t want him to take this road and, besides, I don’t like it when people talk like this.
Because, if you really think about it, people who claim that they are not afraid to die are only after the pity-party, the smothering of attention, and the ego-tripping. If people are really unafraid of death, they don’t have to announce it.
“We’ve been through this before Matt,” I sighed. “If you’re really not afraid to die, you should have killed yourself a long time ago, with or without an audience.”
Silence. That word again.
“What do you really think of me, Veronica?”
“Do you want an honest answer to that?”
“Yes.”
I finished what’s left of my wine, placed the glass on the coffee table, and then I faced him.

14. "when he would morph into this highly emotional and slightly suicidal person I couldn’t really tolerate at times."-My Ex boyfriend talks like that! I hate it and I don’t like it when people talk like that too.I don't see any reason why a person wouldn't be afraid too die,I think they haven't experience the best things in life that's why they think that way.I can't judge them though. It's just my opinion.I'm not fond of people boasting/announcing things especially if it's their fearlessness to death.I don't get it...
