Flashback: "I Knew How It Looked To Other People"

I knew how it looked to other people, with Sam and I being simply “too close”—we text each other almost everyday just to make kumusta or mangulit; we make frantic phone calls when things get crazy or when I just want to pester him at work; we met for dinner sometimes (with Sam waiting for almost two hours because our new schedules don’t meet); and I always run to him when things get crazy.

I knew how it looked to other people—when I link my arm with his whenever possible; when I rest my head on his shoulder when we are sitting beside each other; and when we go on “solo food trips,” just the two of us.

I knew how it looked to other people—when I cried my lungs out during my despedida, and when I literally cried on his shoulders with his arms around me.

I knew how it looked to other people, that, if I were a stranger looking on, I would bet a million bucks that the two people before me are secret lovers. I would even bet my precious V (my car) that it was only a matter of time before they make it official.

Sometimes, I get overwhelmed when people ask why we’re too close and when nosy people tease us to death. I wonder why people around us just can’t stop thinking that there was really something between us.

Even after I left, some people in the old office still teased Sam about me. He always told me about it. One time, I got too curious and badgered him about the whos and the whats and for a time. He got weird and asked me over and over why I got too curious. I told him the truth: narcissism. Tsk tsk.

  18. That's a cool educated friend you got there, maybe he got better plans for both of you in the future, so he doesn't express that much since he knows he has the upper hand on the friendship. A friend you can rely on usually end up your lifetime partner.

  9. yung best friend ko parang si sam :)sya naiisip ko while reading v's blog. he's always there when i need him. minsan parang mas priority nya pa ko over past gfs nya. there was a time na tinukso din kmi and in-entertain ko ung thought na baka pwede kami na lang kasi tulad ni v,tanggap niya lahat ng craziness ko at kung ano talaga ako but mahirap talga pag walang attraction! (he's good looking sa mata ng iba :D) dko lang talaga type :)
