How Can You Act Upon Something Vague?

While I fear the day I would most likely want to slash my wrist with a plastic spoon for doing something that goes beyond “kagagahan,” I’d still do it.

Guess what Charlie said when I told her about my plan.

Yeah, her favorite word.

“F*ck!” she said over the phone. “Have you gone mad, Veronica? How can you act upon something that’s so vague?!”

So that when I’m all wrinkles and fine lines which no anti-aging product can erase, I can tell my grandkids the crazy things I did for love. Who the hell wants to listen to Cinderella fifty years from now, anyway?

In the distant future maybe, I’ll see a piece of me in the eyes of my future granddaughter. I’ll drag her to Starbucks, osteoporosis (knock on wood) and all, and say...

“Hija, ang love parang kape,” I’ll say. “Halika girl, talk tayo.”

Youth will end. I want to spend these years and the years that will follow living with my arms wide open, my heart on my sleeve, and my emotions plastered like neon signs on my forehead. I want to make the most of it—to love without restraint and to believe beyond compare.

So after all things, recollections, opinions, and negative reactions have been said, written, done, and thought of, I’d still do it.

I want to be able to “feel” because nobody else can feel for me.

If failure comes, it’s not a bottomless pit. Your feet will always touch the ground, no matter how deep it is.
