We arrived at Tagaytay's Picnic Grove around 10AM and decided to walk around while the morning sun was still tolerable. I think I need not describe what you'd find in Picnic Grove, except that going there on a weekend would mean battling hordes of people for a nice shaded spot where you can rest (if you don't want to pay for a cottage). But since Logan and I realized that we needed a breather from the congested and stiff dining ways of city life, we ate our lunch just like everyone else—on the grass.

As I helped Logan spread the thick picnic blanket on a nice flat surface on the ground, I thought about what my friends would think if they could only see me that time.

Franco probably wouldn't say anything and would instead just laugh his head off. Chi would most likely muse at how much I've changed. Lily, whose girlfriend genes are beyond normal strength, would give me a recipe for ham-and-egg sandwich. Dee and Claire would probably go bad cop and bad cop on me, starting with "Okay, what's wrong with you?" Charlie would most certainly go berserk and snap "What the fuck happened to you?!"

I had to bite my lower lip to keep myself from laughing. It was funny to think that, two years ago, I wouldn't be caught dead eating a sandwich at Picnic Grove with someone of the opposite sex. I used to be more of a fine-dining, vodka-chugging type, remember? And the girl who bought six wine glasses for Christmas and then smashed them while rinsing. Clearly, I used to be a candidate for the typical 20-something woman in her rebellious stage. And then, two years later, there I was, nibbling on a sandwich under the shade of a tree with someone whose hair can't be tamed.

But it was peaceful just lying there on the grass with Logan as we watched the sunlight slit through the thick leaves of the trees that enveloped the area. Well, okay, so maybe I did want to punch a few rowdy people for disrupting my moment of serenity, yet even those things just fade away when you're with someone you really like.
