How The Breakup Began

In the days after we watched Avenue Q, there were many things I wanted to do. One of them was to go to the beach again. Since I was a Puerto Galera virgin, I told Logan that maybe we could go to the beach one time with our friends.
Over the next few weeks, Logan took the liberty of arranging everything for our trip. Here's the thing about Logan: there should always be a plan. He wouldn't go anywhere unless he had done extensive research on where to go, where to stay, what to do, and how much we'd need to spend for the entire trip. He had been to every backpacker destination in the country—Sagada, Baguio, La Union, Bicol, Zambales, Batangas—with his group of friends from his old office. Unlike me (I can pack and get back without the slightest itinerary), Logan is almost never spontaneous.
So when the Puerto Galera idea came up, we decided to invite some close friends. Franco and Charlie were first to say yes. Our friends from the Qube group and my best friends from high school soon agreed to join us. Logan was unsure whether to invite his cousin Lily, who had become some sort of Couple Watch field reporter who always relayed the status of our relationship to her mother (Logan's aunt). However, Lily found out about the plans on Facebook, and we didn't have the heart to say no when she said she'd be bringing her new boyfriend along for a "test run."
The Puerto Galera group came to include more than 10 people. For days, Logan sent us emails with a detailed itinerary and a breakdown of how much we'd be spending for a three-day vacation. The last time I got this kind of email was when my editor friend, K, sent me to Davao for a media tour. Logan's emails were so detailed that he could have included how many pairs of underwear to pack.
Of course, at the time, I didn't appreciate this kind of fixation for details. Logan's ka-OC-han had me more irritated than relieved. And really, despite the amount of time and effort you put into planning the little details, something will always come along and change the plan altogether.
And that's how Logan and I started to break it off...
