Irony Is Veronica's Middle Name

The legal bitch is trying to piece herself together by getting a taste of the theater culture. Franco, a famous blogger and a good friend of mine, has two tickets to the final run of Avenue Q at RCBC Plaza. When he asked me if I wanted to catch it one Saturday, it didn’t take long for me to decide.

Thank God for press invites and second row seats. Two minutes into the play, I was laughing my ass off. For those of you who haven’t seen this wickedly witty play directed by Bobby Garcia and Chari Arespacochaga of Atlantis Productions, it’s not too late to check it out on YouTube and pray for its comeback.

Ironically, the lead character playing Princeton, veteran stage actor Felix Rivera, looked A LOT like Matt, and throughout the play, I wasn’t looking at the puppet he’s holding. I was staring at his face! The resemblance was fascinating.

Perhaps Kate Monster’s solo ("There’s a fine, fine line") is one of Avenue Q’s most popular scenes. Carla Guevara’s version of the famous Broadway’s piece hit me hard. The song goes like this...

There's a fine, fine line between a lover and a friend;

There's a fine, fine line between reality and pretend;

And you never know 'til you reach the top if it was worth the uphill climb.

There's a fine, fine line between love

And a waste of time.

There's a fine, fine line between a fairy tale and a lie;

I guess if someone doesn't love you back it isn't such a crime,

And a waste of your time.

And I don't have the time to waste on you anymore.

I don't think that you even know what you're looking for.

For my own sanity, I've got to close the door

And walk away...

“Oh” indeed.

RECEIVE COSMO.PH WEEKLY!
