Meet The Parents Part 1

When I showed Logan The List, I told him that it didn't have to be accomplished in order. Still, I saved meeting my parents for last so as not to shock the wits out of my jackass or scare him away back to Persia.

As I have said before, for most guys, meeting a girl's parents and/or family is like facing a firing squad. Come to think of it, my daddy taught me target shooting when I was about 9 years old, and the fascination continued until high school, when my friends and I used to compete in some after-school Counterstrike pustahan at nearby computer shops. I told you, I'm one of the boys.

I saved meeting my parents for last also because it was the most important one. It just didn't occur to me that it would be the first item he would tick off The List.

But of course, fate had a lot to do with that.

It was the third week of November. My impatience was reaching its breaking point when Ms. O invited Logan and me to the press screening of The Twilight Saga: New Moon at Robinsons Galleria. And since my plus one had not seen the first installment yet, we went to his house first for some DVD time.

That was the first time I met Logan's family. I was nervous, but my excitement for the day's itinerary overpowered my jitters. At that time, we still weren't a couple yet, technically speaking. It was hard enough to explain to our friends our dating status, especially when they found out about The List. But it was waaaaaay harder to explain it to Logan's mother, who kept asking if we were "together-together" already. We hit a stalemate by telling her that we were still "getting to know each other." She seemed content with our mutual answer, for now.

It was only halfway through Twilight when Logan and I both realized how cliched we must have sounded. We started to laugh at ourselves just as Edward glistened in the sunlight. It was such a corny line but for that moment, it would have to suffice.
