Share A Room, Win A Friend

“Sam and I can share a room,” I gallantly offered to the guys and then turned to face Sam. “It’s cheaper if we split the bill in half, 'di ba?”
Of course, Carl, Kit, and Nino have long quit pestering the two of us regarding our “platonic relationship” (almost right after Sam threatened to fire Nino when he made a rather green comment during the resto’s Christmas party last year). They simply nodded and were probably relieved that they didn’t have to sleep like sardines for the next three days.
Of course, I don’t mind sleeping with Sam. Wait, make that I don’t mind sleeping in the same room—wait! Mali pa din! I don’t mind “sharing” the same room with Sam.
We’ve been friends for three years straight; and during the few times I’ve dozed off on his sofa in his Katipunan condo after a round of drinks with friends, I always wake up on his bed (with my clothes still on, mind you) with my hair and make up a big mess and his pillow reeking of my saliva. I know, I can be so gross sometimes. On these rare occasions, I always take a shower in his small bathroom, steal clean clothes, drink the coffee he brewed for me an hour earlier, and take home the saliva-drenched pillow so I could wash it.
And yes, I lock his own condo (he usually leaves the key inside this ugly vase his ex gave him last year) and walk to his restaurant for another (free!) gourmet meal—it’s always a three-cheese omelet for me.
So yes, I don’t mind sharing the room with Sam.
If he has any romantic inclinations toward me, he would have made his “the moves” a long, long time ago…
