Speaking of worthwhile, Logan's officemates really made their work hours worthwhile by getting all High School Musical and teasing Logan to the brink of insanity.

One afternoon at work, Logan found a huge LOGAN (heart) VERONICA written on one of the whiteboards in their department. As the day progressed, Logan realized that it was written on every whiteboard on their floor. The Qube's Lung Center Talk turned into grueling hot seat sessions where he had to answer not too subtle inquiries about his dating life.

On my end, Chi had me repeat five times the story of how I met Logan.

"And to think you turned down a blind date with him!" Chi exclaimed over the phone.

When the news of my exclusively dating status reached my notorious playboy friend Franco, he insisted on inviting Logan to our usual free movie nights as my Plus One.

It would be fitting to say that 90% of our dates thereafter were sponsored by a handful of companies: movie screenings and road trips c/o PR agencies, two movie companies, a tech giant (Ms. O's), and, on one occasion, the ad agency where I worked.

That's how Logan met Chi and Franco, who went with us to every event we were invited to. Whenever Ms. O would invite me to cover her events, I'd take Logan along for the ride. We got to see places, meet new people, watch free movies, and test the latest mobile phones on the market, much to the amusement of Logan's friends and mine.

At first, I was worried that Logan might not enjoy socializing as much as I did, or that my friends wouldn't like him. After all, he seemed to be the laid-back kind of guy. But it was Franco who first gave his seal of approval as they shared a common obsession for FHM. Chi gave her two thumbs up right after the first movie screening we all went to. Lily, of course, not only agreed with me that her cousin was indeed a catch, but also continued to pester me for daily updates about my dating-her-cousin life. Nicia and Gail approved of him right after the high school inuman. That left Charlie.

The first time Charlie saw Logan, the first thing that came out of her mouth was this: "That's your boyfriend? Mukha siyang dugyot!"

"First of all, he's not my boyfriend yet," I replied defensively. "Second, hindi siya dugyot. His hair is just stubborn. Like 'yung hair ni Harry Potter!"

But Charlie soon warmed up to Logan, especially after we rescued her from a date from hell. Charlie was on a date with this big shot publicist for a senatorial candidate who made the wrong move of being too nosy. Since Franco was busy and officially off-limits for the rest of the night, I asked Logan to help me.

It was Logan's officemate Paoti who charged into the restaurant, acted as Charlie's brother, and whisked her into Logan's car that was parked just outside the restaurant in Galleria.

And that's how Charlie and I met Logan's friends for the first time. That night, we all went to Bugsy's in Ortigas Home Depot for Qube's Friday Habit of drinking 'til dawn. When we arrived, Miko and Pong were in the middle of their bad cop and bad cop routine with Miranda, one of Logan's female officemates.

"Ikaw pare, sino'ng pipiliin mo?" Miko was asking the whole group. "Si Miranda or flight attendant?"

"Do the math, pare," Pong chirped as he made weighing gestures with both hands.

"Ano ba!" Miranda threw a nacho at Miko and Pong. "Tigilan n'yo nga ako! Tulungan n'yo na lang akong maghanap ng roommate!"

The boys didn't stop pestering Miranda about her current living situation. She was looking for a roommate with whom she could share a condo in Ortigas. Months later, Charlie and Miranda would become condo-mates as they both shared a love for the beach.

Logan officially introduced me to his friends, not as his girlfriend yet, but as the reason he was always missing during dinner time.

A few hours and five bottles of imported beer later, Charlie warmed up to the new set of friends, and in return, they dubbed her as one of the guys as well. Talking to a drunk Charlie really feels like talking to a sober dude.

When Logan drove me home that day, I couldn't get over the fact that I finally found a guy I could take with me to events and one who didn't mind socializing. Logan might not have enjoyed all aspects of socializing, but he was a real gentleman and an animated Plus One whenever I'd take him with me.

And just like that, Logan became a part of my world—a world where sometimes, a girl has to dress up, go out, sip a few cocktails (mostly it's iced tea, anyway), socialize, take photos, and write all about it.

It was so easy. It felt like we were meant to be together from the start. It was so smooth and surreal. But I should have known that the greatest love stories didn't happen so easily. Everything was going smoothly when an old spark almost set my perfect love story up in flames.
