Everyone's getting married and getting pregnant.

I'm getting drunk.

Why is it that all my friends are getting married left and right? Everyone's getting married, dammit! And even though I know that I am—in truth and in fact—not yet ready for married life, I couldn't help but feel like the last single girl.

Last. Crazy. Single. Girl.

The frenzy started in the last quarter of 2010. It was a day like any other. I was rushing a Bedroom Blog entry when all of sudden, a dear old friend from my old office buzzed me on Yahoo! Messenger and told me she was getting married.

I gagged on my coffee.

The beauty of being a freelance writer (yes, I resigned from the advertising agency, but more on that later) is that, even if you doused yourself with half a mug of steaming coffee, soup, ketchup, or whatever, you can easily take a shower. Or, write in your underwear.

Lately, I've been writing at home while wearing one of the shirts I stole from Logan's closet during my many visits to his place. Yes, it goes something like "…lalala nothing but your T-shirt on… lalala." Don't knock it till you've tried it. Guys' shirts are really comfy.

Anyway, as I was saying, I doused myself with hot coffee that day. I would have taken a quick shower but my eyes bore holes into my laptop screen as I fired quick replies, which were basically how, when, where, and 'what should I wear?!'

When I saw their pre-nuptial photos on Facebook, every cheesy scenario started coming back to me—how, two years ago, my good friend Mari finally agreed to be Romnick's girlfriend on the night of their company Christmas Party at Club Filipino in Greenhills. I was invited to the party as Dee's plus one that night. We were all partying the night away in our formal wear when out of nowhere, Romnick walked over to Mari carrying this gigantic teddy bear as a Christmas gift. After a year and a half of courtship, Mari finally said yes.

And all of us then single ladies died with envy. In our formal wear.

Two years and a dozen Facebook albums' worth of quality time together, Mari and Romnick were inviting Logan and I to their garden wedding in Quezon Province. Holy mackerel, ang layo! But we said yes. To hell with toll gate fees, gasoline prices, and the inevitable four-hour drive! I wouldn't miss this for the world!
