The Bedroom Blog Diaries: Leaving Ortigas

It was a day like any other. I was on my way to meet Charlie in Robinsons Galleria for coffee at 3PM on a weekday (more on my meeting with my friend Charlie in later posts). Ah, the joys of being self-employed. Have I mentioned that I resigned from the agency in Ortigas?
A little flashback here: Early last year, I resigned from my copy writer post at the advertising agency where Franco and I used to work. He left the agency a year before I did and joined a bigger firm in Makati. I would have joined him in [company deleted]. But I didn’t want to leave Ortigas because Logan was still working there early last year. I would have joined Franco in that global company with a smashing reputation that would've been enough to make me shine like diamonds. I would have joined Franco...if only my passion for publishing didn’t overpower my flair for writing copy studies.
It came to a point when my work at the agency felt like a routine. I didn’t feel challenged anymore. To put it simply, I got bored. Publishing has always been part of my long-term goals, and I’m already at its doorstep. I began to feel that my 9-to-5 job was pulling me down instead of pushing me even further. I came to a point when I don’t see any significant sign of career improvement. I felt that I have lost my “much-ness.” I just know that I used to be “much much more.” And so I resigned and it felt good.
To be continued...

7. @icx: thatâs how I used to be too. I donât resign unless thereâs a new job waiting for me. But itâs also invigorating to just raise your hands and say âquitsâ and just hang out for a month or twoâ¦lalo na kung burned out ka na talaga.

6. @madzzz: hey thanks for the kind words. I know how it sucks not knowing what your next move should be especially when it comes to decisions about your career. But hang in there, kaya mo yan. ;)

1. Hi, V. This would be my first time to comment and i just would have to say that I am keenly looking forward to the continuation of this entry! I'm sort of at the crossroads right now (if I should resign from my current job or not) and I'm hoping your story would inspire me to go for the right choice. More power! xoxo
