I loved the place—the ambiance, the gourmet food, the soft music, the lights. Lucky Logan, a fireworks display went up somewhere near the area, right in the middle of dinner. Of course, he kissed me while different colors filled the dark sky. I began to wonder: Why is it that with Logan...fireworks play a big part in the picture? Haha, go figure.

Places and moments like these exist only in dreams--that’s what I initially thought. Right then and there, I admitted that this date has always been a part of my fantasies. I never thought it could happen in real life, where the usual date spots are highly commercialized restaurants that offer nothing more than stuffy ambiance and expensive, pre-packed food that’s either too greasy or too salty.

But here in Isabelo, it was a different experience, like something out of a cheesy chick flick or a novel written for hopeless romantics. Here, in this secluded garden, it felt magical. I never thought this kind of place existed in Marikina City—right under the nose of a local who claimed to know everyone in the area and a few blocks away from a residential area where a group of people and screaming kids were playing tong-its on the sidewalk.

It felt like nothing else existed. The world outside Isabelo’s walls was cold, crass, and cruel, but here in this quaint garden restaurant, romance is real and tangible, just as the stars were very visible that night.

We weren’t able to catch the last full show of Valentine’s Day that night so we just drove home. Logan helped me fix the bouquet of red roses he gave me in a vase. Then, we just hung out at home and talked for the rest of the night.

I had the best Valentine’s date (so far) last year! I got the stars, the city, the sky, the fireworks, the red roses, the amazing gastronomic experience in this secret restaurant, and, of course, the man who continuously makes me realize why it never worked and would never work out with anyone else.

But what amazed me the most was how it was Logan who planned it all.

A thousand pogi points for my Prince of Persia.

And now that Valentine’s Day is just around the corner again, I wonder what Logan has in mind this year. One thing’s for sure: he would do the planning again. What about you? Would you let your man plan your Valentine’s Day date this coming February?
