Just a few days after that dinner in Empire Deli & Restaurant, I received a call from the headhunters for St. Luke's Global City. They were looking for a senior PR writer who could start immediately.

It was my first time to do a Skype interview. Seriously, they do this now? What happened to face-to-face interviews? It was almost funny. From the waist up, I was dressed like a newscaster, complete with eye makeup (which my mother did) and hair tied neatly in a high ponytail. I was even wearing one of those corporate jackets that Charlie wore when I bumped into her at Greenbelt 3. But under that (and unknown to them), I was just wearing a pair of loose boxers from Logan and fluffy white slippers.

The interview went well. The headhunter comes from the same university I went to. She even mentioned that my name sounded familiar.

After the 15-minute Skype interview, I prepared some of my sample works, in case they called me back for the one-on-one interview in person. Later that day, I went to the gym. I attended a spinning class, still high from the possibility of working in my now official favorite city.

Later, I was in the grocery buying fruits when another call came. It was from an unfamiliar number with an unfamiliar format.

"Hello, is this [my real name]?" the female caller asked.

"Yes," I answered. "This is she."

"Hi, this is Dana from [name of company]. We got your resume and I was wondering if you're interested to apply for our lifestyle producer vacancy."

OMG!
