After what seemed like two hours, we transferred to another seaside bar for more drinks. We were getting rowdier and rowdier. Since most of the guys in our group were single, they spent a great deal of time checking out  barely clothed beach babes sipping their drinks at the next table. Two of Logan's drunk friends went for it and did the good cop/bad cop routine, but ended up looking like Bert and Ernie. Regardless, they got to dance the night away with some chicks.

Gail was quietly downing her fourth bottle of San Mig Light while fiddling with her phone every now and then. Nicia, the non-drinker, sipped iced tea impatiently, waiting for us to call it a night. Unfortunately for her, we were still drinking at one o'clock in the morning. She decided to go back to the inn with a semi-tipsy Gail, leaving the rest of us drunk on the beach.

Charlie didn't join us that night. She didn't even join us for dinner. Instead, she went off with Toby. Some time after midnight, Charlie dropped by our table with her ex and one of his friends. Charlie was clearly drunk and glowing bright red in her navy blue dress. She smelled strongly of beer and her words slurred, which made me anxious about letting her leave with her ex for the rest of the night. After all, I was the one who invited Charlie. She was my responsibility.

"You think we should let her leave with him?" I asked Logan. "She's drunk!"

"Bayaan mo siya," Logan said. "Malaki na siya, she knows what she's doing."

"But she's so drunk and she's vulnerable," I protested. "And we're so far away from home."

Logan didn't answer my question. He just smiled and kissed my forehead--meaning "don't worry too much."
