It was Logan's first time to spend the night at our house. Our plane leaves at 10 o'clock tomorrow morning, but since we'd be driving along Katipunan Avenue en route to NAIA on a weekday, at around 6 o'clock in the morning, you can never be too sure how horrible traffic could get. And since it's our first time to fly together as a couple and he lived a good distance away, we didn't want to take any chances of missing our flight.

So we decided he would sleep at our house instead.

Hours earlier, around 9PM, my parents said they'd be retiring to bed and left us alone in the living room to watch episodes of How I Met Your Mother on the 40-inch 3D LED TV I won during the Samsung event at Crowne Plaza a month ago (who would've thought I'd win, right?!). Anyway, it's amazing how my parents changed their attitude toward and perception about my boyfriends in the years that passed.

In high school, my mother had me return way too expensive gifts from high school boys. "Hindi naman sila ang bumili niyan," my mother often said. "Pera ng mga magulang nila 'yan." In college, my mother would have our then helper do chores around the house to keep a watchful eye on us kids doing thesis on the coffee table (seriously, that was all we did).  

They never met Matt--thank God--and while they always thought Sam was gay (bless his soul), I guess that my past, strong-willed decision to share a condo with a male friend was the last straw for my parents. Since then, the reigns started to loosen, a little too loose for many, that some of my mother's friends would raise their eyebrows whenever they hear I'd be traveling alone with a male companion again at, what, 25?!
