When Someone Means So Much To You...

A full week passed before I finally got to talk to Sam. I went to his condo unannounced and brought him a bottle of his favorite champagne.
It was true.
He nearly broke his arm trying to save me.
“I’m really sorry Sam,” I said quietly. “I’m so sorry you got hurt because of me...” I was starting to go diva when he said...
“Hey don’t go diva on me,” he said. “It’s not your fault, okay? But you can be really clumsy at times.” He laughed.
I sighed.
We were at his small balcony, overlooking the Ateneo campus. It was about eight o’clock in the evening. The road was a beautiful tapestry of blinking lights and fast cars. We were sipping champagne.
Sam was wearing his usual shirt and shorts ensemble, his feet secured in rubber slippers. He had yet to take a shower. He smelled of burnt wood, earth, and sweat. He was all man. Comfortable. Safe.
He reached for the bottle and refilled our glasses. Like always, he placed his arm on my shoulders and we watched the car lights make luminous stripes along Katipunan.
“I’m just really glad you’re okay now,” he said kissing the top of my head.
“Thank you Sam, for saving me all the time.”
“You’re the girl who always needs to be saved,” he laughed. “And I’ll always be here to save you.”
It felt right. This. Everything. Like the pieces were right in front of me and didn’t need to be found. They were falling into place on their own. It felt so right to be with Sam, here, now, all the time. And I thought I didn’t want to be anywhere else until my phone beeped and vibrated inside my pocket.
It was Matt.
“You have to go?” Sam asked, swirling the champagne inside his glass.
“Umm,” I started.
“It’s okay,” Sam said as he patted my head. “Your heart is elsewhere.”
“Actually...”
“It’s okay Veronica,” Sam continued. “Sometimes, someone can mean so much to you that even the truth can’t change your mind.”
And with that I left a beautiful person standing on his balcony, sipping champagne, and smelling of everything any girl in her right mind could ever ask for.
What the hell is wrong with you, Veronica?

9. girls, easy..let's admit it, kahit sinong girl ang malagay sa same situation na ganyan eh malilito talaga lkung sino ang nasa top ng priority list niya..maybe V is fallingw/ Sam pero di pa niya na-aadmit sa sarili niya un kasi nga si matt pa rin yung feeling niyang gusto niya..hehe..la lang
