If you're a big fan of the wickedly funny series How I Met Your Mother, then you probably have a love-hate relationship with the perfect couple Lily and Marshall. They've been together since college and, over the years, it seems they haven't outgrown most of their silly (and sometimes sickening) lovers' ways.

There's the "tell-me-what-you-ate" habit, the lunch hour calls, the six-pack airport tradition, and even the good night song Marshall sings to Lily every single night. Cute as they are on the series, it makes me wonder if there really are couples who are like this out there. Moreover, can these silly antics last in real life?

I came across this quote on Tumblr: "Anyone can be passionate. But it takes real lovers to be silly." It makes me wonder, "How long are we talking about here, exactly?"

When the relationship is new, even the lamest pet names can sound amusingly sweet. I remember the first time Logan called me "baby." I wanted to strangle him. Nobody calls me "baby" and gets away with it. Don't judge me, it's a personal thing. It's just that this particular pet name gives me goose bumps--the bad kind. Do I really look that, uh, helpless to you? Do you really think I need to be looked after at all times? Do you really think I'm that shallow that you need to use the baby angle? Do you really think I'm so lame that you need to carry my shoulder bag at the mall? Sorry, but unless my bag has wheels and weighs twice as much as I do, I can carry it myself, thank you very much!

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is, when you've just landed a man, even the biggest alpha female ego could succumb to such a lame gesture as carrying a woman's purse. Silly romantic gestures, whatever; there's nothing romantic in that anyway. But, the thought remains that when you're in a new relationship, you really tend to be just as silly as everyone else...Logan and I included. But, just for how long does it last?
