"Oh my God…" was all Stacy said.

I closed my eyes and lifted my face to the sky, hoping that the tears would somehow slip back to where they came from. When I opened them and wiped a few moist spots from the side of my face, I saw how Stacy's face had changed. Even without telling me, her expression showed just how sorry she felt for me.

Maybe the connection between us goes beyond what the eyes could see because even without words, she knew that it would snap me to pieces if she told me just how sorry she felt.

So instead, she said, "You know, you're very brave. I mean, I could never have written something like that about Matt. When I read Bedroom Blog for the first time, I wanted to...I...I just don't think I could ever write something like that."

"Don't you wish you could?" I asked.

"No," she answered. "I don't think I could ever have the guts to write about those things."

I looked around me. The kids were still throwing tantrums from hell while their parents were busy with what was probably an early working dinner.

"Then we're equals," I replied. "Because you've also done something that I could never do to him."

"And that is?"

"I could never hurt him," I said.

"You mean, after all the things he did and didn't do, you still couldn't hurt him?"

"No, I don't mean that. Believe me, if I could slap him once every single day for the rest of my life, I would. The only problem is, no matter what I did, I couldn't hurt him because he could never feel the same way about me as he did for you."

How? How could you ever hurt someone who doesn't feel anything for you?
