Don't be upset that you and your guy can't splurge on a luxurious holiday getaway. Check out these fun bonding activities that wouldn't burn your entire Christmas bonus!

1. If you’re craving for some hot QT with your guy, park your car in a secluded place like your village park or on a not-so-busy street and make out like horny high schoolers. Crank slow jazz, roll back the seats, and fog up those windows, baby!

2. Pull a TomKat and snuggle up on the sidelines at a kiddie sporting event. (Touchy-feely lovebirds Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes rarely miss his daughter Isabella’s soccer matches.) Of course, you don’t need your own kid to spectate. Play the supportive ate and  cheer on a cousin’s or sibling’s team. This works well for school teams and professional leagues, too. Tag along when your boy watches a hot basketball game and join him trash talk while cheering for his fave team.

3. Raid the kitchen cabinets and whip up a holiday dinner of canapes (a fancy word for appetizers) by topping crackers with whatever you scrounge up. Try these delicious ideas: olives mashed with olive oil to make a tapenade; sliced hard-boiled eggs with a dollop of mayo or mustard, plus a pinch of ground pepper; cream cheese with a piece of apple and a nut on top. Once you’ve prepared the finger foods, light a few candles, pour your drinks into wineglasses, and get romantic.

4. Board games and card games aren’t b-o-r-i-n-g if you play them right. Put a naughty twist on a classic and invent something kinda kinky, like strip poker (each time one of you jumps a chip, the other person has to peel off an article of clothing) or pusoy dare (’yung talo sa round has to fulfill a dare—sexy requests allowed). Hey, everyone wins!

5. Give each other a tour of your childhood haunts. Drive by your old house, plant one on him at the smooch spot where you had your first kiss, scope out the tindahan where you used to buy your merienda, and stop by the joint where you went on your first official date, and sit on the playground swings.

6. Offer to apartment/house-sit for a friend or relative who’s heading out of town for the holidays. Spending the night in unfamiliar digs is kind of like shacking up at a hotel on vacation—minus the minibar and room service, of course.

7. Put on a ratty tee and ripped jeans and chill out at home with your Magic Mic one holiday evening. Challenge your date on a pataasan ng score contest and finish the night off with a cheesy duet like “Bakit Ngayon Ka Lang” or “Reunited.”

8. Make pasyal and hike through...yes, Luneta or the Manila Bay Boardwalk and stroll hand-in-hand.  Okay fine, it’s kind of tacky but you’ll laugh at the experience together and you’ll have interesting memories to share. People watch, witness a sunset, and just enjoy being together. Plus, places like these would probably free you from possible bump-ins from your usual crowd, which means you’ll have lots of opportunities for, um, doing your own thing.

9. Rock the house on the house. Log on to spot.ph or check out the local newspapers to find a gratis holiday gig in your neck of the woods. Great bands play at no cost on occasion, especially this time of year, and there are some product-sponsored outdoor concerts that feature top bands libre, so there’s a good chance you’ll get lucky.

10. Flag your dream home in the real estate section of the newspaper. Or check out model units in condominium sales’ offices. Then do a fantasy walk-through with “Your Mister.”

11. Sit side by side and make like computer geeks. Log on to YouTube and laugh your faces off watching odd and hilarious videos from around the world of just about everything under the sun—then post your own video clip of each other!

12. Google each other and trade stories about random things that pop up, like  your college orgs and positions therein or kengkoy awards he won in highschool (like “Most Likely to Be a Millionaire by 25”). Hint: Hone your search by including your city and province and putting quotes around your first and last names.

13. Bond while you get buff. At the gym, race each other on neighboring treadmills. Once you work up a serious sweat and lose some of the holiday pounds, hit the showers at home...together.

14. Head to the court with your guy and play hoops. Practice free throws and three-pointers before asking him to help you perfect your layup.

15. Take a driving tour of a not-so-familiar area after Christmas (so you avoid the heavy traffic caused by the rush of last-minute shoppers). Go around Manila, for instance, if you don’t go there often or check out Antipolo if you’ve never set foot there before. Spend a few minutes researching about each place online before your visit. This way, you get to make your drive a sulit trip and you’ll see the specific sites that interest the both of you.

Very Iffy Cheap Dates
The best things in life are free, but these ain’t included.

•    Cuddling up and watching your grade school ballet recital on VHS, rewinding the “good” parts.
•    Crashing a burol. Someone is bound to have brought pansit.
•    Setting up a treasure hunt by hiding stuff he needs (car keys, license). No sex ’til he finds it all!
•    Popping by a friend’s house unexpectedly, eating his food, and finishing his beer, so that you can save on date expenses.
