It’s Liz Uy’s job to tell style-conscious Pinays the fashion trends to watch for in the country’s best-selling fashion magazine, Preview, and give tips on how to rock them here. She is also a famous stylist—and this is not because she happens to be the ex-girlfriend of hot leading man John Lloyd Cruz. Rather, she’s one of the most sought-after style experts for celebrities, TV commercials, and even music videos, among others.
Cosmo got to chat with Liz recently, since she was the stylist for Christian Bautista’s music video shoot for “Beautiful Girl,” which also happens to feature four of today’s prettiest Filipinas: Anne Curtis, Solenn Heusaff, Georgina Wilson, and Angel Locsin. We really wanted to see what’s inside Angel’s bag, after we’ve told you about the contents of the others. Unfortunately, she did not bring a bag with her to the shoot. The only things she carried are a box of tissue, her accessories holder (where her trinkets are neatly kept), and loads of shoes—which led everyone to tease her that she’s probably moving into the condo unit which they used as dressing area for the shoot. Fortunately, though, Liz instead obliged us with a peek inside her bag!
Liz is practically as familiar to everyone as local celebrities. You’ve probably seen her in fashion and showbiz events, the hottest clubs in the metro, and other social gatherings. But behind the glitz and glam life you think a fashion maven has, doing fashion full-time is actually challenging. It actually entails a lot of work, which roughly involves thinking about the right outfits for every actor/model, every scene of the shoot; pulling out clothes, shoes, and accessories she will need from various stores; assisting the stars and models during the shoot; and then returning the items to the store.
When she arrived for the shoot, the super stylist entered the dressing room with lots of plastic containers filled with shoes and more clothes to add to those already hung on the racks. Think: Rachel Zoe—complete with huge shades and her own Taylor and Brad. She talks comfortably with everyone; Liz is not only a stylist to her clients, she’s also a good friend.
While Liz was fixing clothes for the shoot, Cosmo snagged the opportunity to look at what’s inside her bag. View the gallery to see what this famous stylist brings with her everyday.
