Still Fun, Still Fearless, Still Female
Posted on December 2, 2009 06:00PM
Here it is, one of the Facebook status messages I can post that might possibly cause any one among my family or friends to have an aneurysm: "Sheng Banzon is Cosmo.ph's Quickie Blogger for the month of December."
It probably ranks third among all the shocking announcements I can ever hope to put out, following, "Sheng Banzon is getting married," and, "Sheng Banzon finally went ahead and read the Twilight saga, and has a major crush on Edward Cullen." Cosmopolitan's editorial assistant Cereb Gregorio, who is also my predecessor in this realm of Quickie Blogs, said in her first entry that she isn't your typical Cosmo girl. I'm sure you've already gotten the impression that the same statement applies to me, but on an entirely different level.
I write for the country's--I hope my boss reads this--bestselling car magazine, and there's definitely a touch of glitz surrounding my job, too, since I get to attend quite a number of fancy product launches, travel abroad for work, and try out the latest cars to be released in the local market before anybody can so much as catch a fleeting glimpse of them. Well, that last perk might be something your brother or boyfriend would consider a bigger deal, but please indulge me. -
We Can All Reach For The Stars

(Okay, forgive me if this blog entry would sound cheesy, if not preachy. I just feel strongly about the topic, and besides, Cereb and Red thought that this topic is bloggable. Cheesy but bloggable. So here goes.)
Let me talk about dreams. Passion. Goals. Those big Hallmark words we know so well. I'd like to think I'm the poster-girl for Anything About Achieving Your Goals. When I was 11, I promised myself I'd be a writer someday. At 12, before elementary graduation, almost everyone in my school knew about my dream and wished me well. Teachers sent me letters saying how much they believe in me. By this time, I started churning out story after story, poem after poem. High school was the same story--I wrote for the school paper, wrote every chance I got. -
On Being Fear-Less
Posted on November 28, 2009 12:00PM
As I write, we are putting the December 2009 issue of Cosmo to bed. I mean, we are closing all the pages for printing...and I am more than ready to go to bed. It's 4AM, and lo and behold, on my second day as Cosmo's newest editor, I am close to spending the night with the editorial staff.
