The Birth Of Cosmo.ph

It was just one of those things I jotted down on my list of goals that our teachers in high school (senior year) and college loved to require of us—possibly to instill in us that we need to have a clear vision of want we want to become in the future. Since reading the first issue of Cosmopolitan in 1998 (yeah, I was still in junior high then), I always knew I wanted to write for the magazine. So being part of the Cosmo staff has always been one of my lifetime goals.
Little did I know that, well, roughly a decade later, I would fulfill just that. I now find my name listed as a member of the Cosmo Team but not as part of the magazine—as managing editor of its website. Funny how even my dreams got an upgrade.

Just like that little dream come true, Cosmo.ph also began with a single sheet of paper bearing a list of plans—section names, actually: Love & Lust, Style & Beauty, Celebs, Better You, and my favorite, Hot Hunks and their respective subsections. I could recite their descriptions and contents already in my sleep (sometimes, I think I do). -
My First 12 Months Of Cosmo

I celebrated my first year in Cosmo last July. How time flies—wasn't it just yesterday when I mustered the courage to email Zo my resume? The subject of that email said "Leap of Faith." A leap of faith, it was: For someone who's been a fan of Cosmo since graduating from college, there's nothing more nerve-wracking than daring yourself to be part of this larger-than-life brand. I was scared shitless, but I applied for the job anyway. -
How I Got Cosmotized

Each month, you grab a copy of the latest Cosmopolitan to learn something new. But, what you probably don’t know is that we, the editors of Cosmo, learn from you, too.
In this month’s beauty issue, we don’t focus on cosmetic beauty alone. We proudly pay tribute to natural beauty as well. When we talked about the “Cosmo Chicks Love Their Bods” article, I wasn’t quite sure if we’d be able to get six Cosmo women to pose nude for us. But surprisingly, each individual we asked confidently said, “Yes.” They neither asked for time to think about it, nor did they give us any restrictions. For that, I applaud their confidence. -
The Beginnings Of Our New Staff

So, the Cosmo family got a little bigger. It’s exciting, intimidating, but a whole lot of fun. From a wee magazine staff of seven, we welcomed four additional fun, fearless femmes—and are now still a wee staff but finally of 11. We’re ecstatic about having new blood and working with new people.

Amidst the flurry of Bachelor go-sees and shoots we had to book for our sexy Cosmo Men supplement in September, nothing got me more excited than the chance to interview Geoff Eigenmann for the Man On Fire piece in this month’s issue. And I thank Sam, our Managing Editor, for making sure I got the assignment. The guy is H-O-T!!!
