A Woman Scorned

A week had passed since that disastrous night in Greenbelt 3--when Matt ditched me for the nth time, and Charlie slapped me across the face in disgust--and also to bring me back to my senses.
I spent that week brewing evil plans in my head. I burned every freaking journal I wrote during all those years I labeled "magical." I deleted all Facebook contacts I only added because of him. I wrote my articles with the speed and focus of a scorned woman, and I spent my free time daydreaming about what I would do to the man if, by any chance, our paths crossed again. I was seriously considering using pepper spray.
Yes, I was angry.
I was really, really angry.
And it actually felt good to finally release all that pent up anger I never thought I had. -
Lightning Struck Me Twice

In that dimly-lit restaurant that played Bollywood music, whose melody and charm reminded me of how low I had sunk, I felt my blood pressure rise steadily. I clenched my fists with every call Matt left unanswered and felt my nails sink into my palms, until he finally decided to turn the damned phone off.
I wanted to hit something. I needed to hit something. A wall, a table, a chair, a bottle of vodka--anything!
I was beyond mortified. I was beyond mad.
I was beyond help. -
A Cold Knife Slashing My Back

“So, are you two together?”
We still had a few minutes for cocktails before the movie started. Sir Tan, Matt, Aldrich, and I were sipping lukewarm iced tea in wine glasses.
“You didn’t tell me you hooked up with Veronica, ha Aldrich!” Sir Tan nudged Aldrich in the ribs that my friend let out a silent “ugh.”
“Sir, hindi ako,” Aldrich said, massaging his ribs. “Veronica is with Matt.”
